On August 30, 2025, a day marked by two significant incidents in the peaceful town of Bassum, a serious traffic accident and a burglary shook the community.

At 3:20 pm, a traffic accident occurred on Kreisstraße 145 / Forststraße. The accident involved a motorcyclist, aged 67, and a car driven by a 90-year-old individual. The motorcyclist collided with the passenger side of the car, resulting in severe injuries. The motorcyclist was airlifted to a hospital in Bremen for immediate treatment.

The elderly driver failed to see the motorcyclist while turning left near the local shooting club. The accident site was completely closed for several hours as emergency services attended to the scene. The material damage caused by the accident amounts to approximately 15,000 euros.

Meanwhile, between 4 pm and 6 pm on the same day, a burglary occurred on Nordstraße. Two unknown perpetrators entered the single-family home through an unlocked front door. The burglars specifically targeted high-value jewelry belonging to a 77-year-old resident. The burglars were seen by a neighbour upon leaving, but no suspects have been identified as of now.
