Essen Police Arrest Suspect in Drug Trafficking Investigation

In a significant development on August 18th, Essen Police made an arrest during the S.I.E. (Styrum Innenstadt Eppinghofen) project. The arrest occurred around 10:45 AM on Eppinghofer Straße, as officers spotted a 22-year-old suspect who had been acting suspiciously after making eye contact with them.

As the officers approached, they stopped a pedestrian who was crouching behind a parked car. A thorough search revealed that the suspect had hidden a cigarette packet containing approximately 10g of cocaine under the parked car. Moreover, a backpack carried by the suspect was found to contain around 62g of cannabis.

The suspect is now under investigation for the illegal trafficking of a significant amount of cocaine and cannabis. Additionally, there are suspicions that the individual may be in Germany illegally. The investigations against the suspect are being carried out by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Duisburg.

On the 19th of August, the suspect was brought before a judge at the Mülheim an der Ruhr District Court. The judge ordered detention on remand due to the suspicion of illegal trafficking of a significant amount of cocaine.
