Political Figure Jonah Jang Questions Abandonment of Own House by PDP Defectors
In a recent caucus meeting held in the Plateau North Senatorial District, Senator Jonah Jang, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and a former Governor of Plateau State, expressed his support for the continuity of the current leadership in the state.
Senator Jang, who is known for his steadfastness within the party, used the analogy of abandoning one's own house to describe the act of leaving the PDP. He emphasised that the PDP, founded in 1998, has been one of the most united political parties in Nigeria since its inception.
At the meeting, Governor Caleb Mutfwang received endorsement for a second term, along with a call for continued terms for Deputy Governor Josephine Piyo and Party Chairman Chris Hassan. The deputy governor and the chairman both received unanimous support for their terms.
Senator Jang, a genuine founding father of the party, expressed his disagreement with some members who have left the PDP over time. He asserted that a genuine founding father would not abandon the party. He further stated that the PDP is still rooted in the dedication and sacrifices of its founding fathers, and no faction has been able to shake the foundation of the party.
The Senator also highlighted the PDP's strength at the national level, stating that the party has continued to stand firm without any form of division threatening its existence. He reiterated that the PDP remains a party built on unity and commitment, and he encouraged the party members to remain steadfast in their support.
The meeting, which was well-attended by key PDP members, including Hon. Istifanus Gyang, Hon. Suleiman Saidu, Hon. Damian Dung, Hon. John Ayuba, and Hon. John Baba, among others, was a clear demonstration of the party's solidarity and commitment to continuity in Plateau State.
