Popular actor Warwick Davis to reprise his role as Professor Filius Flitwick for the HBO-produced Harry Potter television series.
In exciting news for Harry Potter fans, the much-anticipated HBO/HBO Max series based on J.K. Rowling's original book series is currently in production. The series, set to debut in 2027, will take a more expansive approach to the magical world we all know and love.
One of the most notable castings for the series is Warwick Davis, who will reprise his role as Hogwarts Professor Filius Flitwick. Davis originally played the charming professor in the original Harry Potter film series and is the only actor (so far) to play the same role on the TV reboot as in the films.
Joining Davis in the cast are a host of talented actors, many of whom are familiar faces from the original film series. John Lithgow will return as Albus Dumbledore, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell, and Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch. These actors will bring their iconic characters to life once again.
New additions to the cast include Elijah Oshin, who has been cast as Hogwarts student Dean Thomas. Richard Durden will play Hogwarts staff member Professor Cuthbert Binns, while Leigh Gill has been cast as Gringotts character Griphook. William Nash has been cast as Hogwarts student Gregory Goyle, and Bríd Brennan will play Hogwarts staff member Madam Poppy Pomfrey.
One of the most intriguing new cast members is Sirine Saba, who has been cast as Hogwarts staff member Professor Pomona Sprout. Saba's casting adds a fresh perspective to the series, as she is the first actress of Middle Eastern descent to play a significant role in the Harry Potter franchise.
The annual Back to Hogwarts event, which celebrates the Harry Potter franchise, announced Warwick Davis's return to the franchise, signalling the start of an exciting new chapter in the world of Harry Potter. The series is being written and executive produced by Francesca Gardiner, ensuring that the magic and charm of the original series will be preserved.
As production continues, fans eagerly await more news about the upcoming series. With such a talented cast and a dedicated team behind the scenes, it's sure to be a magical journey. Stay tuned for more updates on the HBO/HBO Max Harry Potter series!
