Postal worker in the United States allegedly aided in stealing checks from mail deliveries and illegally sold mailbox keys to others.

In a shocking turn of events, Cambria M. Hopkins, a former postal employee, has admitted to her involvement in a mail theft conspiracy. Hopkins, who was a postal carrier in Clayton, Missouri, sold her mail key to Malik A. Jones and participated in a scheme to steal mail for personal information and business checks.

According to the Department of Justice, Hopkins sold her mail key to Jones on March 20, 2022. Jones, who has since pleaded guilty to bank fraud and aggravated identity theft on Oct. 25, used the key to steal mail, with others involved in the theft. From August 2022 to August 2023, Hopkins sold checks to Jones on multiple occasions.

Hopkins was charged with one conspiracy charge and one unlawful use of a mail key charge. The mail key charge carries up to 10 years in prison, while the conspiracy charge carries up to five years. Jones is currently waiting for sentencing, while Hopkins' sentencing date is scheduled for Dec. 1.

The scheme involved stealing mail for personal information and business checks. Hopkins admitted to stealing mail from her routes and from the post office. Jones also admitted to recruiting people to let him deposit the stolen checks using their bank accounts.

The name of the other suspect involved with Cambria M. Hopkins in the letter theft and who examined the stolen mailboxes using the Arrow Key sold by Hopkins is not publicly available.

In a statement, the Department of Justice issued a release regarding Hopkins' guilty plea. Hopkins has also admitted to her guilt, pleading guilty to the charges against her. This marks a significant blow to the postal service, as employees are expected to uphold the highest standards of integrity and trust.

As the investigation continues, it is hoped that justice will be served and those involved in this conspiracy will be brought to account for their actions. The public can rest assured that the postal service is taking steps to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.
