Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, Nigeria's former Foreign Minister and diplomat, is set to participate in a series of significant international events this September. Gambari's schedule includes the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, as well as the African Economic Global Convergence (AEGC) Summit.

At the AEGC Summit, scheduled for September 21, Gambari will deliver a keynote address and receive the AEMA Black Prize for Excellence in International Service and Diplomacy. The event, which promises to be a gathering of influential personalities, will provide a platform for Gambari to share his insights on critical global issues.

On the same day, Gambari will also participate in a presidential roundtable titled "From Ezulwini to an Equitable World Order: Power, Peace, Prosperity and Reparations." This roundtable, convened by The New Diplomat, offers an opportunity for Gambari to engage in discussions on global power dynamics, peace, and prosperity, and the concept of reparations.

In addition to these engagements, Gambari recently joined other eminent personalities in Nairobi, Kenya, for a five-day African Union (AU) review of governance, peace, and security frameworks. During this session, chaired by former South African Deputy President Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, Gambari underscored Nigeria's leadership role in Africa's search for sustainable peace and security.

Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu has already included ambassadors for the G-20 countries United States, China, Germany, India, and Japan in his long-awaited ambassador list. The delay in releasing the ambassadorial list is attributed to funding challenges affecting Nigerian foreign missions. However, efforts are being made to ensure the list is resolved promptly, ensuring effective representation abroad.

Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, has not been mentioned in this article thus far.

Later on September 25, Gambari will chair a high-level roundtable on "Unlocking Energy, Oil & Gas, Minerals, Aviation and Maritime Opportunities in the Gulf of Guinea: A Roadmap for Peace and Security." This event provides an opportunity for Gambari to lead discussions on strategies for peace and security in the Gulf of Guinea, with a focus on exploiting energy, oil, gas, mineral, aviation, and maritime opportunities.

President Tinubu may prioritize appointments to G-20 nations due to their significant economic partnerships with Nigeria. This strategic approach could strengthen diplomatic relations and foster economic growth for the country.

As Prof. Ibrahim Gambari prepares to represent Nigeria on the global stage, his extensive experience and commitment to diplomacy are expected to yield significant outcomes in these critical international engagements.
