Experiencing Work Operation Following Power Failure - Power restoration efforts in progress following power failure
In the heart of Berlin, a power outage has left over 50,000 households in the southeastern part of the city without electricity. The cause of this blackout is suspected to be a politically motivated arson attack on two power masts.
Erik Landeck, CEO of Stromnetz Berlin, the city's power network provider, has been at the forefront of addressing this issue. In a statement, Landeck said that technical work can only commence once police investigations are complete.
As the investigation continues, some progress has been made. Cables that were initially out of service have been activated, contributing to the reconnection of 14,000 customers by 10:21 AM. However, the remaining customers will take longer to be reconnected due to repair work.
Stromnetz Berlin is preparing for the possibility that the restoration of power may not be completed by Wednesday. The installation of new pylons is not possible at this time. Landeck and his team are working tirelessly to restore power as quickly and safely as possible.
Police investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the damage and identify those responsible for the arson attack. Until then, the city of Berlin stands in the dark, waiting for the lights to come back on.
