Predicted drop in temperatures anticipated for the Black Sea region

The Black Sea is expected to experience a cooling effect over the next few days, as a strong northeast wind, known as a borá, strengthens and moves towards Tuapse. This weather phenomenon originated from the Kerch Strait and is being closely monitored by Philipp Sapozhnikov, a leading scientific researcher at the Laboratory of Coastal Benthic Ecology at the P.P. Shirshov Institute of Oceanology of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

According to Sapozhnikov, the borá has already begun to affect the coast of Krasnodar Krai. During a borá, surface waters are pushed away from the North Caucasian coast into open sea areas, resulting in the replacement of coastal waters with colder waters rising from deeper layers. This process is expected to continue over the next two days as the wind strengthens.

Sapozhnikov reported on the borá to TASS, explaining that this natural event is not unusual for the region but can have significant impacts on the local ecosystem. The borá can affect the distribution of marine species, altering the balance of the coastal benthic ecology.

While the search results do not provide the name of the scientist who studied the strong winds in the Black Sea near Krasnodar Krai, Sapozhnikov's report sheds light on the potential effects of these events on the region's marine life. As the borá continues to move towards Tuapse, scientists and local residents will be keeping a close eye on its progress.
