Chelsea's impending decision to sanction the transfer of goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic to Bournemouth is creating a buzz in the footballing world.

The Serbian international, who joined Chelsea from Major League Soccer outfit New England Revolution in 2023, has accepted a move to the Vitality Stadium. According to reports, a 'gentleman's agreement' between Petrovic and the Blues stipulates that they would allow the 25-year-old to leave if a bid of £25 million is received.

With the departure of Kepa Arrizabalaga to Premier League title hopefuls Arsenal last week, Petrovic is expected to be Andoni Iraola's first choice goalkeeper at Bournemouth. The Cherries are also working to evolve their back line due to the sales of Milos Kerkez and Dean Huijsen, and the arrival of Arsenal.

Petrovic's impressive form at Strasbourg last season, where he conceded the second-lowest number of goals in Ligue 1 with 38, has caught the attention of the English club. He quickly established himself as the outstanding goalkeeper in MLS before his move to Chelsea.

Despite Petrovic's departure, Chelsea could move to strengthen their goalkeeping depth. Filip Jorgensen is being considered as the primary understudy, with Mike Penders being considered for a loan to Strasbourg in Petrovic's stead. Gaga Slonina, another young goalkeeper, has yet to play for the club.

Meanwhile, Bournemouth also signed Alex Paulsen from Wellington Phoenix last summer but sent him on loan to Auckland. The arrival of Petrovic could mark a significant shift in the team's fortunes as they aim to improve their league position.

Fabrizio Romano, a renowned football journalist, posted on Twitter that after an official bid sent on Wednesday, Bournemouth is confident to get the Petrovic deal done. The transfer is expected to be finalised soon, with Petrovic set to join his new teammates at Bournemouth.
