Preview of the all-electric next-generation Skoda Octavia, dubbed Vision O, shows it as the Czech brand's most advanced electric vehicle to date.
Skoda has unveiled the Vision O EV concept, offering a sneak peek into the future of the Octavia. The all-electric wagon, set to be unveiled in its final production form in 2027, is described as extremely practical for everyday use and brings surprising and thoughtful details.
The Vision O EV is the latest interpretation of Skoda's current Modern Solid design language. It features new large SKODA lettering and a 'Vision O' designation on the rear tailgate. The latest teaser of the Vision O EV showcases a sloping rakish rear-styling, a B-pillar design, and a split-roof spoiler.
Skoda's design boss, Oliver Stefani, commented that the Vision O concept highlights the brand's commitment to innovation in automotive design. The new Skoda will be among the first Volkswagen Group vehicles to be based on the next-generation Scalable Systems Platform (SSP). This platform, developed in part by US SUV and ute-maker Rivian, is expected to offer "more performance" and deliver cost-savings.
In addition to the Vision O EV, Skoda will also be releasing at least two other EVs. One of these will be a sister car to the VW ID.2 and the Cupra Raval badged as Epiq. The Octavia EV will be rolled out after these initial releases, including a flagship version of the Vision 7S concept.
Skoda will not be producing a Skoda-badged version of the cheapest Volkswagen ID Every1 EV. The company plans to continue offering the wagon body style for the Octavia in the electric age. However, no further details about the performance, range, or other specifications of the all-electric wagon have been released.
The Vision O EV concept previews the all-new fifth-generation Octavia battery electric sedan and wagon. The design of the Vision O EV draws influences from the first generation Octavia (1996-2004), with a split spoiler leading to a pair of narrow taillights that form a T-shape, evoking Skoda's trademark 'four-eyed' lighting motif.
The Octavia EV was initially planned for the fourth generation, but was shelved in favor of the more advanced SSP platform. Skoda is set to unveil the next-generation Vision O EV concept on September 8 at the Munich motor show. The Octavia EV, while details are scarce, is expected to be as practical and innovative as its concept predecessor.
