Prices of social cucumbers in Kamchatka are set to increase by 35 rubles
Greenhouse Complex "Kamchatka" Expands Offerings and Production
In the coming weeks, residents of Kamchatka will have a new addition to their fresh produce options as three varieties of greenhouse-grown tomatoes become available. This development is part of a larger initiative by the Greenhouse Complex "Kamchatka," the key supplier of fresh vegetables in the region.
Vladimir Kokorev, a representative of the Greenhouse Complex "Kamchatka," announced this news, emphasizing the company's commitment to minimizing dependence on external supplies. The complex has been investing in greenhouse development to ensure year-round fresh produce for the population and provide Kamchatka residents with quality, affordable vegetables.
Until now, the complex has primarily focused on cucumbers, but with the successful growth of greenhouse tomatoes, they will soon offer local greenhouse-grown tomatoes as well. Despite the recent price increase for cucumbers, the complex has managed to maintain prices at cost to ensure affordability for the population.
Starting March 2025, the price of cucumbers will rise by 35 rubles, selling at 360 rubles per kilogram. This adjustment is due to an adaptation to current economic conditions, specifically rising transportation and sales costs. However, Mr. Kokorev acknowledged that price increases are a sensitive issue for consumers and assured that they are working on increasing production volumes to offset these costs.
Since the beginning of the year, the Greenhouse Complex "Kamchatka" has delivered over 80 tons of cucumbers to regional retail outlets. In March, the enterprise plans to cover over 60% of the region's demand for fresh vegetables, a significant step towards self-sufficiency.
The Greenhouse Complex "Kamchatka" aims to continue expanding its production volumes to meet the growing demand for fresh, locally grown produce and ensure a steady supply for Kamchatka residents.
