Prisonbound versus adventurer: one ends up in jail, while the other embarks on a journey.
The Bundespolizei-Inspektion Ludwigsdorf has confirmed the arrest of a 37-year-old Polish citizen, but clarified that the arrest warrant issued by the Dresden Public Prosecutor's Office eight days ago is unrelated to any unpaid fines or compulsory insurance law violations.
According to the press spokesperson Ivonne Höppner, the specific charges for which the 37-year-old was arrested are not disclosed in this paragraph. However, it is known that the Local Court of Dresden convicted the individual for theft in April last year.
Contrary to initial reports, the 37-year-old was not arrested on the border bridge in Krauschwitz or on the motorway bridge near Görlitz. Instead, the Federal Police arrested two Polish citizens, aged 34 and 37, on the border bridge in Krauschwitz (S 127) and on the motorway bridge near Görlitz.
The first warrant for the 37-year-old was issued by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Görlitz in May last year for an offense under the compulsory insurance law. The second warrant comes from the Public Prosecutor's Office in Cottbus, dated early June this year, for deliberate driving without a license.
The 34-year-old, on the other hand, had two outstanding arrest warrants. One was from the Local Court of Lübben (Spreewald) for a fine of €1,800, and the other from the Local Court of Weißwasser for a fine of €1,200.
Despite the arrest, the 37-year-old was able to settle his debts, and his further journey was not impeded. However, as he was unable to pay the outstanding €3,000, he was immediately taken to a prison in Krauschwitz, contrary to the initial reports that stated his arrest did not lead to imprisonment.
The details of the 37-year-old's debts or the amount he settled are not specified. The Federal Police did not disclose any further information regarding the arrests or the individuals involved.
