Progressive Mega Millions Jackpot Reaches an Estimated $575 Million
The Mega Millions jackpot has reached a staggering $575 million, with the next mega millions drawing scheduled for Tuesday, August 27, 2024. Despite no one winning the jackpot on Friday night, excitement is building as the prize continues to grow closer to the $600 million mark.
Each lottery ticket costs $2, and for an additional $1, players have the chance to multiply their non-jackpot prizes with the Megaplier option. The jackpot also offers a cash option, which, if selected, would grant the fortunate winner $285.5 million in cash.
In the latest draw, a total of 1,025,239 tickets won prizes, an increase compared to the 945,000 winning tickets earlier this month. One lucky player from Texas won $1 million by matching five numbers, and one ticket in Tennessee won $3 million with the Megaplier option.
The remaining 21 players who matched four numbers won the standard prize of $10,000 each. Moreover, 26 players matched four winning numbers along with the Mega Ball number, with 5 of them winning $30,000 each due to the Megaplier.
The Mega Millions jackpot has a long history of creating millionaires. Last year in August, an incredibly fortunate player from Florida won the mind-blowing $1.602 billion jackpot, making it the largest Mega Millions jackpot ever won. This month marks only the second time the Mega Millions jackpot has reached such a sum during August since the game started in 2002.
The name of the person who claims the Mega Millions jackpot on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, with the winning numbers 28, 30, 44, 66, 69, and the golden Mega Ball number 2 is not publicly available. If won, the jackpot would mark the ninth-largest jackpot from the popular lottery game.
