Prolonged return deadline for Amazon purchases during the holiday season
Amazon has announced an extension to its return period for purchases made during the Advent season of 2024. This extended return period applies to various categories, including Camera, Electronics, Computers & Accessories, Wireless, Office Supplies, Music-CDs & Vinyl, Video/DVD, and Video-Games.
The return period for these categories is significantly longer than usual, running from the date of receipt until January 31, 2025, or 30 days after receipt (whichever is later). This extended period is intended to allow customers to buy gifts early without worrying about returns.
However, it's important to note that this extended return period does not apply to all items. Some products in these categories may have exceptions, detailed under "Exceptions to our return guarantee."
The extended return period does not override the legal right of withdrawal within 14 days of receipt. Additionally, the return period for these specific categories does not extend beyond January 15, 2025.
Amazon's return rules for the Christmas period 2025 generally include automatic deduction of previously credited PAYBACK points upon returns or refunds of purchases made with the PAYBACK American Express card. Points are deducted proportionally for partial refunds, and points earned from Amazon vouchers bought at PAYBACK partners remain unaffected.
The extended return period applies to purchases made between November 1 and December 25, 2024. This extended period is a new policy for the 2024 Christmas season and is part of Amazon's strategy to make online shopping more appealing during the holiday season.

In 2022, over 21 billion euros were generated in Germany alone during the Christmas shopping season through Amazon's online ordering service. With this extended return period, customers can shop with confidence, knowing they have ample time to return any unwanted gifts.
