Speed Control in Giessen: Multiple Vehicles Caught Speeding

In Giessen, officers from the Regional Traffic Service set up a stationary control point in the Licher Straße, near the Heinrich-Fourier-Straße, where a speed control was carried out on Friday. The results of this operation were quite concerning, as 14 out of the 22 cars checked were driving too fast.

One driver was caught going 22 km/h over the limit, resulting in a fine of 115 euros and a point in Flensburg. Moreover, previously, children of a driver had been riding an e-scooter in pairs or threes along the area of the measuring point, despite repeated warnings. The e-scooter was seized preventively due to the lack of insight and other traffic offenses committed.

The Press Spokesman for the Central Hesse Police Headquarters, Pierre Gath, provided the information about this event. For further inquiries, you can contact the Central Hesse Police Headquarters at Ferniestraße 83, 35394 Giessen, or by phone at +49 641/7006-2055 during regular business hours. Outside regular hours, you can reach the duty officer (PvD) at +49 641/7006-3381 or [email protected].

The checked motorcycles complied with the specified speed and were all in a satisfactory condition. No other serious traffic violations were found apart from minor offenses that were immediately punished. However, it's worth noting that there is no specific information in the provided search results about a father being punished with the confiscation of an e-scooter for violating speed limits and riding on the sidewalk.

A girl was upset about the seizure of the e-scooter and called her father, who arrived at the scene in his car. Upon arrival, the father was fined 260 euros and given a one-month driving ban for speeding at 82 km/h near the Licher Straße.

The Central Hesse Police Headquarters encourages all road users to respect traffic regulations and prioritise safety on the roads.
