Gaalbernfest Returns for a Celebratory 25th Anniversary
Get ready for an exciting week as the Gaalbernfest, a much-anticipated event in Hünfeld, returns from Thursday, August 28, to Monday, September 1, 2025. This year marks a special occasion, as the festival is extended to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Hessentag.
Kicking off the festivities on Saturday, August 30, the band "Eine Band namens Wanda" will set the atmosphere for the day. On the opening day itself, party rock band "Back Home" will take the stage to get the crowd moving.
Throughout the festival, visitors can enjoy a variety of musical performances. Funk and pop band "Vorsicht Gebläse" will perform on Friday, August 29, while on Sunday, August 31, the "Mayor's Band & Friends" with mayors from the region will perform, followed by Tonica from Mackenzell in the evening.
Special guests for the event include Mayor Benjamin Tschesnok, State Secretary Michael Ruhl from the Hessian Ministry of the Environment, and the Groß-Umstädter Wine Queen Lea I with her princesses. These dignitaries are expected to attend the opening of the Gaalbernfest.
Winemakers and caterers will provide a delightful array of food and drinks throughout the festival. The stands will be open from Thursday to Saturday from 5 PM.
For those interested in history, First City Councilor Martina Sauerbier will share an anecdote about the Amtsbock at 6 PM on Monday, September 1.
The Gaalbernfest originates from the wine village at the Hessentag. This year, the festival will also feature a large children's land with many attractions on Sunday, August 31. At 3 PM on the same day, there will be a magic show for the youngest visitors.
On Sunday morning, the Wernesgrüner musicians from Hünfeld's partner town Steinberg will play a concert. From 2 PM, coffee and cake will be served in the evangelical community house, and the children's fire brigade Roßbach will put on a spectacular show exercise.
As the festival comes to a close on Monday, September 1, the Amtsbock beer will be tapped in the city center at the Amtsbock at 6 PM. Later in the evening, with marching music from the Dammersbacher brass band, there will be a move to the Stifts district where the Lichtbergkrainer will provide atmosphere as street musicians.
Don't miss out on the Gaalbernfest, a week filled with music, food, history, and fun for the whole family!
