In a regrettable incident during the EuroBasket game between Lithuania and Germany on Saturday, German NBA player Dennis Schröder was subjected to racist heckling involving monkey noises. The game, which ended with a score of 107:88 in favour of Lithuania, saw Schröder, who is 31 years old, remain undeterred and continued to play in the subsequent game against Britain.

The racist incident, it appears, occurred after the game, not during. Schröder, expressing his disdain for such behaviour, stated that he does not respect or accept monkey noises as a form of insult.

In response to the incident, Lithuania's professionals have extended their apologies to Schröder. Furthermore, the EuroBasket organizing committee or the relevant basketball federation authorities have made the decision to exclude the suspected fan involved in the racist abuse from further EuroBasket games.

The unfortunate incident is not the first of its kind in the same game, as two fans were previously ejected from the arena. In a show of solidarity, Schröder was supported during the game against Britain with displays of unity.

FIBA, the international basketball governing body, has also taken action, excluding an individual Lithuanian fan from further EuroBasket games due to the racist heckling. The incident serves as a reminder of the ongoing fight against racism and discrimination in sports.
