In the heart of Gießen, a city rich in history, an exciting project is underway. The Economic Development Office of Gießen is organising the ELEFANTS-TASTIC project, which aims to breathe new life into the city and promote local products.

The project received funding in the Hessian competition "Ab in die Mitte - Bring Life to the City". At its centre is the Elephant Toilet, a unique hub that serves as a hub for the project's activities.

The Elephant Toilet, located at Schulstraße 4, has an interesting past. The square where it stands was once used for the accommodation and presentation of exotic animals, including elephants, at the end of the 19th century. Today, it serves as a tourist attraction and a centre for the ELEFANTS-TASTIC project.

The Tourist Information, located nearby at Elephant Square, is a great place to start your exploration. Here, you can find free brochures about events, sights, and leisure activities in Gießen. The brochure "Experience the change of time in Gießen - History of Schulstraße 4" provides insight into the history of the Elephant Square.

In addition to providing information, the Tourist Information also sells various Gießen products, including regional items like honey and spirits. You can also find colourful T-shirts with the Elephant Toilet motif, priced at 14.95 €.

As part of the ELEFANTS-TASTIC project, there will be a parade of elephants, music events, and games. The movable elephants used in the project will be moved again, adding a sense of anticipation and excitement.

One of the highlights of the project is the life-sized model of a mammoth baby, named Majuba, on display at the Herrmann-Hoffmann-Academy.

The project focuses on inner-city activation, creativity, quality of stay, and community. It's a celebration of Gießen's unique charm and a testament to the city's spirit of innovation.

The Tourist Information in Gießen is open Monday to Friday from 10 am to 6 pm and Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm. Visit the Tourist Information or the Elephant Toilet to immerse yourself in the ELEFANTS-TASTIC experience.

In mid-November, the Elephant Toilet will pull the Gießen Christmas tree, marking the start of the festive season. The Elephant Toilet will also be selling various fantastical products with Elephant Toilet motifs, including baby bodys, bags, magnets, and cups.

So, whether you're a local or a visitor, the ELEFANTS-TASTIC project offers a unique opportunity to explore and enjoy Gießen like never before. Gießen Marketing ensures that high-quality and regional products are offered throughout the project, making it a truly authentic experience.
