This summer and fall, the city of Giessen is set to transform with the arrival of the ELEFANTASTIC project. The initiative, which focuses on innovation, creativity, quality of stay, and community, promises a unique and exciting experience for residents and visitors alike.

One of the most anticipated events is the Elephant Parade, where majestic elephants, adorned with vibrant art, will grace the streets of Giessen. This spectacle is just one of the many events planned as part of the project.

The Elephant Toilet, a significant part of the "In the Middle" project, is named after a historical location where exotic animals, including elephants, were exhibited at the end of the 19th century. Here, games and activities are taking place, adding a fun and interactive element to the project.

Giessen is also hosting a literature day about elephants, a mascot meeting, and live music events, ensuring there's something for everyone. Notable guests include Benjamin Blümlchen, adding an air of excitement to the proceedings.

For those interested in taking a piece of the ELEFANTASTIC experience home, various products are now available at the Tourist Information. These include baby bodys, bags, mugs, magnets, and t-shirts, all regionally produced or refined. Prices range from 2.50 € for a magnet to 14.95 € for a t-shirt.

Moreover, Giessen Marketing is involved in offering high-quality and regional products under the "Good from Gießen" label. These items, such as honey, spirits, bags, mugs, and water bottles, can be found throughout the city.

The Tourist Information provides free information about events, sights, and leisure activities, as well as regional products and tickets for city tours and other events. It is open Monday to Friday from 10 am to 6 pm and Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm.

As the elephants move again through the city, it's clear that Giessen is ELEFANTASTIC because of the innovative and community-focused projects it supports. The life-size model of a mammoth baby, named Majuba, on display at the Herrmann-Hoffmann-Academy, serves as a testament to the city's commitment to education and preservation.

So, whether you're a local or a visitor, make sure to join in the Elephantastic fun this summer and fall in Giessen!
