Proposing a novel initiative by the Commission for implementation

In the city of Giessen, an exciting opportunity has arisen for local artists and residents to make a lasting impact on their community. Since July 3, 2025, proposals for new motifs of the traffic lights at Parkring have been open for submission.

The city council of Giessen has decided to collect new motifs for traffic light figures at the park ring, aiming to enhance the city's aesthetic appeal and promote active participation. The online platform giessen-direct.de has been set up as an ideas page for submitting proposals.

The submitted motifs will undergo evaluation by the magistrate, who will assess their feasibility and appropriateness. While the popularity of the submitted motifs, as measured by the number of likes, will be considered, it will not solely determine the selection process.

For the motifs to be effective, they must be designed clearly for easy understanding and recognition. They should be distinguishable, indicating whether they signal "Stay" or "Go". Once selected, a concept for their implementation will be created by the city.

Selected motifs will be installed at certain pedestrian traffic lights along the park ring in Giessen. All interested parties are encouraged to like or comment on the submitted motifs on the online platform. For inquiries, the office of citizen participation, local agenda 21, and climate protection can be contacted at buergerbeteiligung@giessen.de or by phone at 0641 306-2116.

The city welcomes interesting proposals and looks forward to seeing the creative ideas that the residents of Giessen have to offer. So, if you have a unique concept for a traffic light motif, now is the time to share it!
