Public spaces in Maipú, Chile marked with fanfare as our foundation unveils two brand-new public plazas
In a significant move towards enhancing public spaces and promoting social progress, our company has recently unveiled two new public plazas in Maipú, Chile. The project, funded by the National Growth Fund (Fondo Nacional de Desarrollo), was officially opened to the public in August 2023.
The opening of these plazas, named Plaza Andromeda and Plaza Divina Providencia, has been a long-awaited desire of the local residents. The project, developed together with the Mi Parque Foundation and the Municipality of Maipú, addresses the lack of access to safe and quality green areas in vulnerable neighborhoods.
Our company, present in Chile for over 75 years, has been a key player in the development of the country's infrastructure. The company has supplied the NS74, NS93, AS02, NS04, and NS16 fleets to Metro de Santiago, with new AS22 trains for Line 7 set to be added. Moreover, our company is the main supplier of Metro de Santiago and Metro de Valparaíso, demonstrated by its complete range of innovative products and services.
The construction of the plazas was a collaborative effort, involving professionals, community members, and volunteers. The project was co-designed with the communities and the local government, ensuring that the needs of the neighbors were met while adhering to environmental criteria.
The design of the plazas prioritizes quality, low-maintenance materials, and plant species suitable for the local climate with low water requirements. The volunteers played a crucial role in the project, planting plants, distributing maicillo, and putting the finishing touches on the new "Plaza de Todos," a community meeting space.
The HR Leader Chile & Argentina, Dolores Iglesias, expressed pride in the project, stating that it provides solutions and improvements to the quality of life, while taking into account the care and respect of the environment. Verónica del Real, Project Coordinator of Mi Parque Foundation, echoed this sentiment, stating that the project materializes the needs raised by neighbors and is linked to environmental criteria based on recommendations suggested by the team.
The our company Foundation provided funding for an inclusive planning and building process, involving our company employees, residents of Maipú, the Mi Parque Foundation, and the local government. On August 13, 2024, the our company Foundation will celebrate the opening of these two new public plazas.
This project is a testament to our company's commitment to contributing to social progress and respecting the environment. With around 550 employees and 7 sites in Chile, our company continues to participate in the main railway projects in Chile, belonging to Metro de Santiago, Metro Valparaíso, and Empresa de los Ferrocarriles del Estado (EFE).
