Pursuing a competitive strategy in the Maryland Cycling Classic, Uno-X Mobility is striving towards earning points and promoting to the WorldTour.

The Uno-X Mobility team is gearing up for the Maryland Cycling Classic, a UCI ProSeries one-day race, as they continue their pursuit for points and a potential promotion to the WorldTour.

Currently, Uno-X Mobility sits atop the ProTeam rankings, earning them automatic invitations to WorldTour races. However, the team is not content with just that. A win in Maryland would earn them 300 points, a significant boost in their bid for promotion.

Uno-X Mobility, though, acknowledges that they might not have the best sprinter for the race. Instead, they plan to race aggressively, aiming for a top result. This strategy is in response to the tight race in the UCI Team Rankings, with Cofidis only 26 points behind them.

The team has been shuffling their schedule to maximise their chances. They swapped Croatia with one-day races in Italy and added the Tour de Langkawi to their calendar. This move is part of their long-term strategy to consolidate sponsorship and resources for a sustainable WorldTour presence.

The team's manager, Gabriel Rasch, emphasised the importance of every race, including the Maryland Cycling Classic, GP de Québec, Montréal, one-day races in Italy, and the Tour de Langkawi. He anticipates a big fight between Uno-X Mobility and Cofidis through the end of the season.

Meanwhile, another significant change is brewing in the cycling world. A potential merger between Intermarché-Wanty and Lotto could potentially result in Uno-X Mobility being promoted to the WorldTour. The sponsors for the proposed merger include the national lottery supporting Lotto, Intermarché (committed until at least 2028), and Orbea as the expected bike supplier for the new combined team. Wanty is stepping away as co-sponsor in 2025.

In the recent Bretagne Classic in Plouay, Arnaud De Lie (Lotto) emerged victorious, with Biniam Girmay (Intermarché) finishing fifth and earning 180 points. Uno-X Mobility, however, finished 38th, with Jonas Abrahamsen being their top finisher. Alex Aranburu (Cofidis) earned more points than Abrahamsen in the race.

As the season progresses, the race for points and positions in the UCI Rankings heats up. Uno-X Mobility, Cofidis, and many other teams are expected to race aggressively in the Maryland Cycling Classic, promising an exciting and competitive event.
