In a significant development, US President Donald Trump has announced preparations for a bilateral meeting between the presidents of Russia and Ukraine. The location for the meeting is yet to be determined.

The announcement comes after a series of high-level meetings, including a White House summit where Trump met with European leaders. The discussions focused on issues of conflict resolution in Ukraine, including security guarantees for Ukraine and the possibility of a trilateral summit involving the US, Russia, and Ukraine.

The US President's announcement follows his talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska a few days ago. Trump discussed these points with Putin, and it seems that Russia is interested in negotiations, as stated by Kremlin representative Dmitry Peskov.

In response to Trump's proposal, Putin has not ruled out the possibility of a meeting with Kyiv. However, the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, has not yet designated a concrete location for the planned meeting with Putin. Moscow suggested Moscow as a venue, but this proposal was rejected by all parties. The favored potential venues currently considered are Geneva or Budapest, but no final decision has been made by Zelensky.

Peskov confirmed that Moscow's position was conveyed in writing to Kyiv. Following the White House events, Trump called Putin to discuss these matters further. The upcoming meeting between Trump and Zelensky, which took place on August 18 at the White House, is expected to shed more light on the details of this proposed bilateral meeting.
