Holstein Kiel Struggling in 2.Bundesliga, Finn Porath Joins FC Schalke 04

Holstein Kiel are currently without a point in the 2.Bundesliga, having lost their first two games of the season against SC Paderborn and Arminia Bielefeld. The team's coach, Marcel Rapp, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the team's performance in the league, stating that it has been disastrous.

However, there was some positive news for the club last Sunday, as they managed to secure their first win of the season in the DFB-Pokal against FC Homburg. The team will be looking to build on this victory when they face SpVgg Greuther Fürth in their next game.

Coach Rapp has also acknowledged that the departure of Finn Porath, who joined league rivals FC Schalke 04, will be beneficial for the player. Porath, a 28-year-old midfielder, played in 31 games in the Bundesliga season that ended with relegation for Holstein Kiel.

Olaf Rebbe, the sporting director, stated that the club couldn't offer Porath the playing time and perspective he desired. Rapp was aware of Porath's desire to leave since the end of last week, and it seems that his role in Rapp's plans for the new season was limited.

Porath was a key player for Holstein Kiel, having been part of the team that promoted to the Bundesliga in 2024. His departure leaves a gap in the team that Rapp will need to fill in order to improve their performance in the league.

Rapp has stated that it's hard to say what percentage they're at in terms of performance, but he wants to improve. He has expressed that he reflects on the past but understands that football must move forward. The upcoming game against SpVgg Greuther Fürth will be an opportunity for Holstein Kiel to turn their season around.
