Ready for a foreign land: useful insights from virtual classes

In May 2024 and 2025, the Consumer Center Rhineland-Palatinate and the European Consumer Centre (ECC) Germany are organising a digital lecture series titled "Focus Week Goals - New Ways. After School". The series aims to provide valuable information for young people planning a stay abroad this year.

Mareike Boguet, a lawyer at ECC Germany, will be giving two digital lectures on "Preparing for an Overseas Stay". The first lecture, titled "Going abroad. How to prepare?", will take place on Monday, May 12, 2025, from 5 pm to 6 pm. Registration for this lecture can be done online. The second lecture will be held on May 14, 2024, from 2 pm to 3 pm.

During these lectures, Mareike Boguet will offer helpful tips on planning and organising a stay abroad. Topics to be covered include administrative tasks, insurance, finances, accommodation, and entitlement to child benefit, among others. Parents who want to support their children in the preparation are also welcome.

Participation in the lecture is free, and it will be conducted in German. Additional information material, including a YouTube video titled "Going abroad", an ECC brochure titled "Moving to an EU country" (PDF), and content about clarifying finances and insurance in time on the ECC website, will be provided. Individual questions can be asked via live chat during the lecture.

Our website, a German-language service and news portal, offers more information on related topics. This includes articles about gaining intercultural experiences with a voluntary service abroad, the 30th anniversary of the Erasmus program, and women travelling independently.

To participate in the lecture, a computer, tablet, or smartphone with internet access and sound output is required. For more information or queries, please contact us at [email protected]. Don't miss out on these informative digital lectures to help you prepare for an exciting year abroad!
