The 66th Annual Jesse H. Neal Awards, often referred to as the Pulitzer Prize of business media, honoured industry leaders and recognised outstanding reporting on major industry issues and pressing business challenges. This year's ceremony took place online on April 24, 2020, with Connectiv, a division of SIIA, announcing the winners and finalists.

The Advertising Specialty Institute (ASI) and its publications made a significant impact at this year's awards. ASI's editorial staff earned five finalist nominations, with their magazines taking home a well-deserved win. The Institute's "State of the Industry" issue was a finalist for Best Editorial Use of Data, while "The Fashion Issue" of Wearables magazine won the Best Art Direction for a Single Article.

ASI's victory marks the 15th Neal award for the company's magazines. Remarkably, eight of these awards have been bestowed upon Counselor, making it the most awarded industry publication. The Sales Boost section of Advantages magazine was also a finalist for Best Instructional Content.

Theresa Hegel, ASI's executive editor, was a finalist for Best Range of Work by a Single Author. Her submitted work included "Sustainability Matters," "How to Succeed With Moment Merch," and other stories, podcasts, and videos.

Moreover, the feature article "Chocolate Inn/Lanco: The Anatomy of a Turnaround" in Counselor was a finalist for Best Profile. The article delved into the intricate details of a successful turnaround, offering valuable insights for industry professionals.

Michele Bell, ASI's vice president of editorial and events, expressed her gratitude for the recognition, stating, "We are honoured to be recognised for telling the stories of the people and the issues that matter most to our industry."

The Jesse H. Neal Awards aim to guide industry leaders to higher levels of effectiveness. By recognising exceptional work in business journalism, these awards encourage continuous improvement and inspire the pursuit of excellence in the field.

While the location for the ceremony was not specified in the article, the impact of the winners and finalists is undoubtedly felt across the industry. American Banker, Crain's New York Business, Ad Age, and Architectural Record were among the other winners and finalists in this year's awards.

The Neals are the most competitive awards in business journalism, making each nomination and win a significant achievement. As the industry continues to evolve, the Jesse H. Neal Awards serve as a beacon of excellence, inspiring journalists and industry professionals to strive for the highest standards of reporting and storytelling.
