The former chief editor and publisher of the magazine "Aula," Martin Pfeiffer, will face trial at the Graz Regional Criminal Court from September 15. The trial, scheduled to take place almost daily in the large courtroom of the Graz Regional Criminal Court, is set to last at least two weeks.
From 2005 to June 2018, Pfeiffer served as the editor-in-chief and publisher of "Aula," during which the Freilich Medien GmbH was the publisher. The magazine was discontinued in 2018.
The indictment against Pfeiffer lists around 250 examples of racist, antisemitic, and national socialist content. According to the prosecutor's accusation, person groups were referred to in the "Aula" jargon as "negroes" or "gypsies" and were predominantly reported on negatively and incited against. Terms such as "racially inferior" and "racial mixing" through integration as a danger, and "Europids" as representatives of a superior race were used by Pfeiffer.
Pfeiffer is accused of propagating racism, Aryan and folkish ideas, a biologically racist concept of the people, and national socialist racial theories. He is also charged with disseminating national socialist ideology.
The trial will focus exclusively on questioning the defendant during the first week. The final speeches are planned for September 24, and a verdict could be reached on September 26. The first witnesses will be questioned on Monday, September 22.
No information has been provided about any ongoing investigations against the publisher of the "Aula" magazine. The "Aula" magazine published literature and sound and image carriers.
Only one issue of the successor magazine "New Aula" was published. The trial against Martin Pfeiffer is a significant event, underscoring the importance of upholding principles of equality, diversity, and inclusivity.
