Bruce Springsteen's latest tour, The Land of Hope and Dreams, came to a triumphant close on July 3, 2023, at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milan, Italy. This tour, which spanned over two years, marked a significant milestone in Springsteen's career, surpassing his previous tour earnings by more than double.
The tour, launched in February 2023, was a resounding success, grossing over $730 million and selling more than 4.9 million tickets, making it the most successful of Springsteen's career. Across its 129 dates, the tour averaged $5.7 million per show.
Despite the high initial ticket prices, the price increase compared to Springsteen's previous tour with the E Street band in 2017 was "well below the typical uptick for other arena and stadium acts, legacy or contemporary." However, ticket prices for the tour's launch in Tampa, Florida, were as high as $4000-$5000, causing some fan complaints.
In other Springsteen news, the musician recently released a new box set titled Tracks II: The Lost Albums. This collection features seven complete records made between 1983 and 2018 and contains 74 never-before-heard songs from Springsteen. Classic Rock magazine has awarded Tracks II: The Lost Albums a full five stars, describing it as "a breathtaking gift that Springsteen acolytes will cherish."
The release of the box set comes after the completion of Springsteen's The Land of Hope and Dreams Tour. Interestingly, the long-running Springsteen fanzine, Backstreets, announced its closure after 43 years, citing disillusionment with ticket prices. The fanzine was edited by Clinton Heylin.
