New Cupra Formentor Now Available in the UK
The Spanish automotive brand Cupra has introduced its first standalone model, the Cupra Formentor, in the UK market. This marks a significant step for the brand, which originated as a performance division of SEAT and became its own entity in 2018.
The new Formentor, now available for sale, showcases a fresh and distinctive exterior design. The front end, referred to as a 'Shark' nose, is complemented by triangular LED headlights, a slatted grille, new air intakes, and triangular taillights at the rear.
The entry-level trim of the Cupra Formentor is the V1, equipped with a 1.5-litre petrol engine. The Formentor V1 offers an affordable starting price of £27,395, making it accessible to a wider audience.
The new Formentor models come with a variety of engine options, including a 147bhp TSI, a 2.0-litre with 201bhp, a 328bhp performance option, a mild hybrid 1.5-litre TSI, and two PHEVs with either 201bhp or 286bhp.
The interior of the new Formentor features a more streamlined center console, microfibre cloth, cow-friendly leather, Sennheiser Sound, and a 12.9″ infotainment system.
The new Formentor has been engineered with new spring and damper rates for improved comfort and dynamism. It arrived as a production model a year after the concept was revealed, initially before the Covid lockdown.
The new Formentor is available in several trim levels: V1, V2, V3, VZ1, VZ2, VZ3, and 1st Edition. Prices for the new Formentor start at £33,450 and go up to £51,790. The Cupra Formentor VZ2 goes on sale in the UK starting at £39,830.
The Cupra Formentor is the first Cupra model that is not a SEAT, signifying a new direction for the brand. The Formentor models are now on sale in the UK.
