Regenerative farming practices implemented in the region between Marienburg and Deich, focusing on Marienhof
Nestled just a stone's throw away from Hitdorf, near Marienburg, lies Marinehof - a farm that embodies regenerative agriculture. This innovative approach to farming spares the landscape and animals, creating a harmonious ecosystem.
At the heart of Marinehof is a small farm shop located on Bleer Street 33, open to the public. Weighing and payment are facilitated by an automatic cash register, making transactions seamless. Inside, you'll find a carefully curated selection of fresh produce, grilled meat, sausage, eggs, honey, and olive oil, all sourced directly from the farm.
The farm shop is accessible with a check card, available at all times, and security measures are in place to prevent theft. Several cameras monitor the shop, and anyone attempting to steal will be immediately recognised and reported.
Marinehof is more than just a farm; it's a hub for community engagement. Corporate events and team-building activities are offered, including planting lettuce and tours of the farm. Children's groups are also welcome during holidays, with special offers designed just for them.
The farm's most recent addition is a growing sheep herd, which has expanded this year due to numerous lambs. To accommodate this growth, a new shed is needed.
Soil preparation for planting is currently underway, and an orchard has already been planted at Marinehof, with more trees and shrubs to follow. This will help reduce the impact of wind on the soil and contribute to the farm's ongoing sustainability efforts.
A new employee, Jimmy Enderes, a farmer at Schepershof and seminar leader of the Biodynamic Training program, will soon join the Marinehof team, bringing his expertise to the implementation of the regenerative agriculture project.
In the near future, a slaughterhouse will be established at Marinehof for the production of homemade meat products. The farm's yields are primarily used in Marienburg for catering, hotels, conferences, and weddings.
Alexander Zimmer, the farm's owner, manages a small farm that includes greenhouses, beds, and containers. For more information about Marinehof's offerings, visit www.marienburgmonheim.de.
