Region of Krasnodar leads in the ranking of regions with the highest fatalities in 2024
In the year 2024, Russia experienced a tragic number of road traffic accidents (RTAs), with a total of over 14,400 fatalities nationwide, according to the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The Krasnodar Krai region emerged as the region with the highest number of fatalities from RTAs, surpassing other major regions such as the Rostov region and Moscow. RIA Novosti reported 789 deaths from road traffic accidents in the Krasnodar Krai region alone. This region, located on the shores of the Black Sea, had a significantly higher number of road traffic accident deaths compared to the Moscow region, where 346 people lost their lives in such accidents.
The Central Federal District followed closely behind with over 3,300 fatalities from RTAs, while the Ural Federal District reported more than 1,100 fatalities. In contrast, the North-Western and North-Caucasian districts each reported over a thousand fatalities from RTAs.
The Volga Federal District recorded around 2,900 fatalities from RTAs, while the Rostov region reported 500 deaths. Unfortunately, data for road traffic accident deaths in other Russian regions was not specified.
When it comes to motorcycle accidents, Honda and Kawasaki were each responsible for 11% of such incidents, followed by CFMOTO with 17%. Yamaha motorcycle owners accounted for 28% of RTAs involving motorcycles. BMW, Motoland, and Triumph each accounted for 7% of these accidents.
