Regional Railway Shopping Cart Based in Brandenburg am Havel
In an unusual incident, a regional train collided with a shopping cart at a level crossing between Goetz and Brandenburg Hauptbahnhof in Brandenburg an der Havel early this morning.
The collision occurred around 1:30 AM while the train was traveling from Frankfurt (Oder) to Magdeburg. Fortunately, the incident did not result in any injuries, as there were approximately 20 passengers on the train at the time. No significant damage was initially reported, aside from some scratches.
The shopping cart was dragged for about 400 meters before getting stuck under the train's engine in the wheel arch. The train driver, noticing the shopping cart on the tracks near Wust, promptly applied the emergency brake to prevent further damage.
The Federal Police are investigating the incident on suspicion of endangering train traffic. The person who presumably placed the shopping cart at the railway crossing between Goetz and Brandenburg main station is currently unknown and is likely being investigated by the authorities.
