Regions Examination Unveils Undercover Operations: Merging Barber Shops and Nail Salons - Focused Investigation on the Fur Trade within the Hairdressing and Cosmetics Sector in a Specific Area
In a bid to combat tax evasion and illegal employment, the Schweinfurt Customs Office conducted a special audit last week. The focus of these audits was on the hairdressing and cosmetics industry, as part of the preventive character of the Customs Administration.
The audits, which are regular and occur both nationwide and regionally, involved 79 inspected businesses and 166 surveyed individuals. During the audit, 17 on-site investigations were initiated.
The audits were risk-oriented, with both random and full audits of all employees of an employer. The results were concerning, with indications of possible violations in 42 cases.
There is a suspicion of illegal employment in eight cases, with the non-payment of the statutory minimum wage of 12.82 euros found in eight cases. Additionally, there is a suspicion of withholding and misappropriation of wages in nine cases.
Moreover, numerous violations regarding mandatory notification and recording obligations were found in the businesses. In one case, there are indications of an improper receipt of state social benefits.
The Financial Control Schwarzarbeit is responsible for conducting these audits, and the customs investigations are ongoing. The audits are an important tool to reduce the social acceptance of tax evasion and illegal employment.
