Religious Gathering at Fronhof: Evangelical Church Extends Invitation for Interfaith Prayer for Harmony
Peace Prayer Event to Take Place in Solingen's Fronhof
On Friday, September 13, a peace prayer event is set to take place at the Fronhof in Solingen's city centre, in front of the city church. This event is a public sign for peace and community, organised by various religious groups in the city.
The centrepiece of the event will be the "Engel der Kulturen" stone slab, a symbolic act designed to emphasise the Fronhof's association with respectful and peaceful coexistence among religions. Designed by artists Carmen Dietrich and Gregor Merten and installed on the Fronhof in 2012, the "Engel der Kulturen" stone slab features an angel figure surrounded by the Islamic crescent, the Jewish Star of David, and the Christian cross.
Artists Dietrich and Merten will clean the "Engel der Kulturen" stone slab during the event, as a gesture of respect and renewal. The circle design of the stone slab serves as a powerful reminder of the interconnectedness of different faiths.
Pastor Jens Maßmann, co-initiator of the peace prayer and responsible for the Christian-Islamic Dialogue at the Evangelical Church Circle of Solingen, explained that the purpose of the event is to set a public sign for peace and community. All Solingen residents of any faith are warmly invited to the peace prayer.
Representatives of several religious communities based in Solingen, including the Evangelical Church Circle of Solingen, the Circle of Solingen Muslims, and the Association of Christian Churches, will participate in the peace prayer. The original mandate of all religions, according to Pastor Maßmann, is peaceful coexistence for the benefit of all.
The peace prayer event will start at 6:00 PM. For those interested in attending, it will be a unique opportunity to come together in unity and show support for a peaceful and harmonious community.
