In the first day of the new school year in Lippe, a total of 122 speeding violations were recorded, with the majority occurring in front of schools. The Lippe police are urging road users to show plenty of consideration for children in traffic and drive attentively and carefully around schools.

The Lippe traffic police conducted school route checks on August 27, 2025, and found several instances of drivers exceeding the speed limit. At the Grundschule Wasserfuhr in Bad Salzuflen, there were 97 speeding violations on that day alone.

In Detmold-Klüt, five red light violations were punished at a traffic light used by school children. Several parent taxis and a teacher were among those who were driving too fast. Two drivers were found to be using their mobile phones during their journey and were fined.

The Lippe police are reminding drivers to stick to speed limits around schools, as many children are still new to driving independently on roads and may exhibit reckless behavior. The Lippe police will be on duty around schools in the coming days, keeping a close eye on safe school routes.
