Researchers in Australia trial a mobile application intended for mental health treatment in a study setting
New Mental Wellbeing App, ReNeuWell®, Launches Clinical Trial
A groundbreaking new app, ReNeuWell®, is set to revolutionise mental health and wellbeing for the average adult. Developed by researchers from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and NeuRA, in collaboration with Miroma Project Factory, this innovative app aims to accelerate and encourage wellbeing and resilience in participants.
The ReNeuWell® app offers a unique approach to mental health and wellbeing, focusing on the 80% of the population whose wellbeing may be declining and could benefit from a boost towards flourishing. Unlike many apps in the mental health and wellbeing space, ReNeuWell® does not aim to reduce symptoms in people living with diagnosed mental health disorders. Instead, it provides practical ways for users to improve their mental health and build resilience to adversity.
The app is designed to facilitate research in the field of 'resilience' and includes exercises, games, tasks, goals, and activities for interactive participation and self-analysis. Users can engage in personalised programs of activities over four-weekly periods, with the app offering questionnaires, action-based data tracking, and self-monitoring for data capture and collection.
The development of the ReNeuWell-App was initiated and supported by UNSW and NeuRA, led by Associate Professor Justine Gatt from UNSW's School of Psychology and NeuRA. The app is based on the COMPAS-W Wellbeing Scale, a measure of wellbeing developed by A/Prof Justine Gatt.
Katherine Robinson, CEO of Miroma Project Factory, is proud to be working alongside UNSW and NeuRA on the ReNeuWell® project. She emphasises the app's use of gamification techniques to encourage meaningful behavior change, making it an engaging and enjoyable tool for users.
A clinical trial is now being launched for the ReNeuWell® app, marking an exciting step forward in mental health and wellbeing research and support. The app is intended for average healthy adults seeking to understand and enhance their mental wellbeing, offering a valuable resource for those looking to take control of their mental health journey.
