In the heart of the ongoing conflict, Gaza City has become the latest battleground. The Israeli military, gearing up to seize the city, has ordered a full evacuation as part of their plan to take control and defeat Hamas.

The evacuation, which took place on September 9, 2025, has resulted in a mass displacement, particularly in the central Gaza Strip. Mosques near areas sheltering displaced people were also targeted in the offensive, adding to the suffering of those forced to flee.

The war in Gaza has been ongoing for nearly two years, leaving the vast majority of the population displaced at least once. The United Nations estimates that nearly 1 million people live in Gaza City and its surroundings, the largest urban center in the Palestinian territory.

Many buildings and mosques in Gaza City have been destroyed, leaving the displaced with few options but to travel on trucks and tractor-pulled trailers, or to push heavy carts by hand.

Saeb al-Mobayed, a resident of Gaza City, was forcibly displaced to the southern Gaza Strip under intensified shelling. Mirvat Abu Muammar, a displaced woman, states that she and her family have no basic supplies and find the evacuation humiliating.

Ahmed Shamlakh, another displaced resident, pleads for an end to the war and for crossings into the Palestinian territory to be opened. Khaled Khuwaiter, a displaced individual, expresses concern about finding no place to stay, no tents, no water, and no food in the Al-Mawasi area.

The Israeli army plans to act with "great force" in Gaza City. Bombing and killings are ongoing in various locations, with the United Nations urging for an immediate ceasefire to protect civilians and prevent further displacement.

As the conflict continues, the plight of the displaced people of Gaza City remains a pressing concern, highlighting the urgent need for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict.
