Nienburg Resident's Bottle Cap Collection Aims to Break Guinness World Record

In the heart of Nienburg, a remarkable transformation has taken place. Frank Zeidler, known on Instagram as "Kronkorken Frank," has turned his home into a vibrant, sparkling realm of bottle caps. With over 130,000 bottle caps adorning the ceilings, floors, and walls, Zeidler is on a mission to break the Guinness World Record for the largest bottle cap collection.

The journey began in 2010, when Zeidler was caring for his dementia-stricken mother. As a means to find balance and peace amidst the challenges, he started attaching bottle caps to the walls of his home. The first 2,000 bottle caps were followed by 1,500 on the floor and 500 hanging initially due to structural issues. However, Zeidler reattached the initial 2,000 bottle caps and added around 128,000 more, mainly in the basement.

Zeidler finds the process of attaching the bottle caps fascinating. He describes the act of gluing and seeing the bottle caps shine afterward as soothing. His project revolves around caring for his mother, and he hopes it will draw attention to the topic of caring for relatives.

Visitors to Zeidler's home are regularly left in awe of the sparkling bottle cap masterpiece. The colorful bottle caps hold firmly on the ceilings, floors, and walls, creating a unique and captivating atmosphere.

Zeidler took a six-year break after his mother's death but has since returned to his collection with renewed vigour. He spends approximately 20 to 25 hours a week on his project, and his collection continues to expand in his basement.

Currently, the record for bottle cap collections stands at 108,000. However, with over 130,000 bottle caps in his collection, Zeidler could potentially enter the Guinness Book of Records. He claims he is well on his way to breaking this record.

In a city where the ordinary often becomes extraordinary, Frank Zeidler's bottle cap collection stands as a testament to one man's creativity, perseverance, and love.
