Return of Radiohead confirmed: 2025 UK and EU tour set after seven-year hiatus
Radiohead Announces First Live Shows in Seven Years
After a seven-year hiatus, the iconic British band Radiohead has announced a run of live shows set to commence in Madrid on November 4 and conclude in Berlin on December 12. The tour will consist of 20 arena concerts across five cities: Madrid, Bologna, London, Copenhagen, and Berlin.
The last time Radiohead graced the stage was on August 1, 2018, at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. Since then, the band members have been busy with various projects. Thom Yorke, the band's lead vocalist, is adapting Radiohead's 2003 album for a new production of Shakespeare's play "Hamlet," titled "Hamlet Hail To The Thief." The production will host its world premiere next year at Aviva Studios in Manchester.
Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood, the band's guitarist, have a spinoff project called The Smile, which has released three albums. Phil Selway, the band's drummer, stated that the band rehearsed together last year and also released his third solo album, 'Strange Dance.' Colin Greenwood, the band's bassist, joined Nick Cave's live band, and Ed O'Brien, the band's lead guitarist, released his debut solo album, 'Earth,' in 2020.
In a surprising twist, Radiohead has also released a digital version of a new live album, titled 'Hail to the Thief Live Recordings 2003 - 2009.' A vinyl pressing of the album is expected to be released on October 31.
Fans on social media have speculated that this tour could suggest the band is set to release a new album. However, no original material has been confirmed for a new release yet.
Tickets for the shows will only be accessible by registering on Radiohead's official website. Registration opens at 10am BST/11am CET tomorrow and closes at 10pm BST/11pm CET on Sunday 7 September. This marks the first dates for the band in over seven years, and fans are eagerly awaiting the return of one of the most influential bands in music history.
