Mercedes-Benz to Revive G-Class Cabriolet and Introduce a Smaller G-Class

Mercedes-Benz has announced plans to expand its G-Class lineup, with the return of the G-Class Cabriolet and the development of a smaller G-Class. The G-Class Cabriolet is expected to make a comeback around 2026, while the smaller G-Class is set to hit the roads by 2027.

The upcoming G-Class Cabriolet is expected to be a more refined and subdued version compared to the extravagant Mansory's G-Class convertible. Although Mercedes-Benz has not disclosed the exact pricing details, Autocar predicts the starting price for the G-Class Cabriolet to be significantly more than the current starting price for G-Classes in the U.S. ($148,250). Based on previous models and statements about its market positioning, the likely selling price for the G-Class Cabriolet is estimated to be between $150,000 and $175,000.

Mercedes-Benz's social media announcement teased the return of the G-Class Cabriolet, hinting at a more restrained design compared to the Mansory's G-Class convertible. The G-Class Cabriolet is expected to compete with cars like the Land Rover Defender X in the market.

Meanwhile, Mercedes-Benz is also working on a smaller G-Class, aiming for higher sales and more varied iterations. The smaller G-Class is expected to be priced under $100,000, making it more accessible to a wider audience. This new model is set to join the G-Class family, which was recently updated with the latest generation introduced last year.

The G-Class Cabriolet will be sold globally, including in the U.S., marking the first time the model will be available in the country. The last G-Class Cabriolet made by Mercedes, the G650 Landaulet, was produced in 2018.

Although Mercedes-Benz has not revealed details about the new G-Class Cabriolet, such as its power source or unveiling date, the anticipation for this luxurious convertible is growing. With the introduction of the smaller G-Class and the return of the G-Class Cabriolet, Mercedes-Benz is set to continue its dominance in the SUV market.

Stay tuned for more updates on the G-Class Cabriolet and the smaller G-Class as they approach their release dates.
