The Dell Alienware AW2725D monitor, a popular choice in its genre, offers a sufficient level of brightness for standard office, media, or game room settings. However, it falls short when compared to some competitors in terms of peak brightness.

In SDR mode, the LG and Asus monitors outshine the AW2725D, boasting a peak brightness that exceeds 400 nits. This is significantly higher than the AW2725D's peak brightness of 265 nits, as recorded in the Standard mode. Other monitors in the same category can also reach over 400 nits, making them more suitable for environments that require a higher peak brightness.

Interestingly, the ANSI performance of the AW2725D, which is a measure of intra-image contrast, remains the same even after calibration. However, black levels cannot be measured on the AW2725D, making the contrast ratio undetermined. Calibration and setting the peak brightness to 200 nits do not affect black levels or contrast on the AW2725D.

Despite its brightness capabilities, the AW2725D is not equipped with a variable brightness option for SDR mode. This means that users cannot adjust the brightness level according to their specific needs. If a higher peak brightness is required for one's environment, the LG and Asus monitors might be a better choice.

For typical office, media, or game room settings, the AW2725D's brightness is more than sufficient. Its peak brightness is comparable to most monitors in its genre, except for the LG and Asus monitors, which can exceed 400 nits in SDR mode. This ANSI performance is typical of OLED screens, making the AW2725D a reliable choice for those seeking vibrant and accurate colours.

In conclusion, while the Dell Alienware AW2725D offers an adequate level of brightness for standard office, media, or game room settings, it may not be the ideal choice for environments that require a peak brightness exceeding 400 nits in SDR mode. For such environments, the LG and Asus monitors, with their higher peak brightness, might be a more suitable option.
