Lagos Political Tensions: Rhodes-Vivour Condemns Venue Sealing by APC

Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, a former Lagos State governorship candidate for the Labour Party, has spoken out against the sealing of a venue where the African Democratic Congress (ADC) was scheduled to hold a meeting. In a statement issued via his X account on Friday, Rhodes-Vivour accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of being behind the sealing of the venue.

Rhodes-Vivour believes that deploying state security agencies to frustrate lawful political activities is unacceptable and undemocratic. He asserts that no amount of intimidation or harassment will stop him and his movement from engaging with the people of Lagos.

The ADC candidate implied that no barricade or show of force can weaken the resolve of the people of Lagos for a better city. He emphasized that it is their constitutional right to assemble lawfully, and that the sealing of the venue was due to the APC's fear of the growing popularity of the opposition party and the Obidient movement.

Rhodes-Vivour declared that Lagos belongs to all of its citizens, not a select few. He vowed that they won't succumb to any form of intimidation or harassment and stated that their movement is powered by the people of Lagos. The ADC had obtained all necessary approvals for the venue, making the sealing of the venue an abuse of power and a clear attempt to stifle opposition voices in Lagos, according to Rhodes-Vivour.

The APC closed the venue on Saturday, likely due to political tensions and attempts to disrupt the opposition's activities. Rhodes-Vivour described the sealing of the venue as an abuse of power and a clear attempt to stifle opposition voices in Lagos. He stated that the APC is jittery about this momentum.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Obidient movement are building momentum across Lagos State, according to Rhodes-Vivour. He insisted that Lagos "belongs to all of us," and that no amount of intimidation or harassment will deter them from working towards a better city for all its citizens.
