Road Authority Finalizes Traffic Enhancements at 10 School Areas in Dubai
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed traffic works at 10 school-zone sites across Dubai, as part of its ongoing efforts to improve safety and contribute to the emirate's urban growth.
The traffic improvements, designed to ease congestion, enhance mobility, and improve safety in school areas, were carried out at zones in Al Warqa, Al Safa, Al Barsha, Al Garhoud, Al Mizhar, Al Qusais, and Al Barsha South.
The works, which were completed during the summer break, included road widening, the addition of new entrances and exits, and the creation of additional parking spaces for staff, parents, and bus drivers. Pedestrian signals and traffic-calming measures were also implemented.
These upgrades aim to create a safer environment for students and benefit 27 schools across the emirate. The traffic solutions are aligned with Dubai's commitment to safe, efficient infrastructure and are part of RTA's wider strategy that aligns with this commitment.
According to RTA's 2025 strategic plan, the traffic works in the remaining school zones in Dubai were scheduled to be conducted during off-peak hours, primarily in the evenings and weekends, to minimize disruption.
RTA urges parents and drivers to follow traffic rules around schools and encourages avoiding random parking around schools. The authority also emphasizes compliance with safety signs to ensure an accident-free environment for students.
The traffic flow around some schools has improved by 25% to 40% due to these works, and the project has boosted parking capacity by up to 90% at some schools.
The improvements are not just limited to Dubai, as RTA continues to implement swift traffic solutions in other school areas to contribute to the emirate's urban growth. The works are intended to support Dubai's commitment to safe, efficient infrastructure and are part of RTA's ongoing efforts to improve safety in school zones.
