Road safety measures implemented: Vivien introduces speed monitoring systems

On September 4, 2025, the deployment of a new traffic monitoring device named "Vivien" will commence on the main street of Langenfeld, specifically near number 114 on Hauptstraße. This initiative, which also includes Monheim am Rhein, marks the beginning of a joint traffic monitoring agreement between the two cities.

The head of the municipal department for public order in Langenfeld, Oliver Konsierke, confirmed that the deployment of "Vivien" is not intended to compete with the Kreis Mettmann but rather to support them with complementary measures.

"Vivien" is equipped with state-of-the-art recording technology that can flash in both directions, tracking motorcycles, and has an advanced security system that alerts the police if someone tries to open or damage it. It's worth noting that these devices do not store data within the device, but instead, the data is transmitted online.

The speed camera in Langenfeld will initially be located on Hauptstraße, but on September 17, 2025, it will be moved to Auf dem Sändchen near number 24. The future locations of "Vivien" in Langenfeld have been announced on the Kreis Mettmann's website.

In Monheim am Rhein, the devices will be named "Stadtblitzer". The team and employees from Monheim are currently being trained to set up the devices legally.

This traffic monitoring initiative does not create any new revenue streams. Instead, it aims to protect children, the elderly, and vulnerable road users by deploying the devices at critical locations.

The approval for this cooperation was granted by the responsible state ministries in 2024. Both cities are working together in this agreement, with the department of order in Langenfeld collaborating closely with their colleagues in Monheim am Rhein.

Speed measurements in Langenfeld may also occur at other locations during this period. It's important to note that fines for violations detected in both cities will be handled by our website on behalf of Monheim am Rhein.

This joint traffic monitoring initiative is a significant step towards ensuring road safety and maintaining a harmonious traffic flow in the cities of Langenfeld and Monheim am Rhein.
