Roadway on Schloßstraße re-opens to vehicle movement on September 1st, marking the resumption of the regular market at its usual location
The city of Bensberg is set to witness a significant change starting from September 4, 2025, as Schlossstraße, a prominent shopping street, will reopen to traffic earlier than planned. From September 4, the fountain field in front of the Schlossgalerie will be turned off during market hours. However, market vendors will be back at their usual spots in front of the castle steps and the Schlossgalerie, as the Bensberg weekly market returns to its old location. Parking spaces will be available only on the right side of Schlossstraße, starting from the Nikolausstraße entrance.
The reopening of Schlossstraße will see vehicles using the newly redesigned shopping street from Nikolausstraße to the intersection with Gartenstraße. Traffic will be diverted via Gartenstraße onto Steinstraße towards Kölner Straße. This diversion will be managed by a traffic signal to ensure smooth flow of traffic.
It is important to note that the remaining construction work between Gartenstraße and Am Stockbrunnen will remain closed during this time. The one in Gartenstraße, however, will become usable again with the opening of Schlossstraße.
