Break-in at Construction Site in Gronau: Thousands in Tools and Cables Stolen
A break-in at a construction site in Gronau over the weekend has left the authorities seeking witnesses and the site owners counting losses. The unknown perpetrators forced open a door in the basement of the construction site and made off with tools worth tens of thousands of euros and several already installed copper and data cables.

Similar incidents involving the theft of tools and cables from unsecured construction sites have been reported in other parts of the country. In Hagen-Boele, a group of a 35-year-old man and four youths aged 14 to 17 were arrested after stealing cables and construction machines from a site. In Dresden-Wilsdruffer Vorstadt, a 44-year-old man was caught stealing cables. All these suspects had prior records for similar offenses.
The stolen goods from the basement room of the Gronau construction site included tools worth tens of thousands of euros. The suspects also stole several already installed copper and data cables from other rooms of the future multi-family house.
The police are still investigating the case and are hopeful that with the help of the public, they can identify and apprehend the perpetrators. In the meantime, construction site owners are reminded to secure their sites adequately to prevent such incidents from happening.
