Roglic to Team with Pogacar at Rwanda's World Cycling Competition
Slovenia Announces Preliminary Lineup for Road World Championships
The Road World Championships, set to take place in Rwanda this month, is gearing up for an exciting competition with several top riders confirmed to participate. Among them are Primoz Roglic, Tadej Pogacar, and Remco Evenepoel, who are expected to represent Slovenia.
According to reports from Het Laatste Nieuws, Roglic will be a part of the Slovenian team, and he is set to compete only in the road race. He last raced at Clásica San Sebastián at the start of August, taking a break since then.
Pogacar, the defending champion at the Road World Championships, will also be part of the Slovenian team. However, the full team announcements are expected to be made in the coming weeks. Alongside Pogacar and Roglic, Matej Mohoric, Jan Tratnik, Luka Mezgec, Domen Novak, and Gal Glivar are likely to be selected for the men's team.
Slovenia may enter two riders into the elite time trial, but no specific names have been confirmed yet. Urška Žigart is likely to spearhead the Slovenian women's road race team.
Notable absentees from the competition include Mathieu van der Poel, Wout van Aert, and Jonas Vingegaard. Slovenia, however, will assemble their strongest riders for the event, aiming to field a maximum of eight riders in their team.
Roglic has opted not to participate in any warm-up races before the Road World Championships. Remco Evenepoel is also part of the Slovenian team, but specific other riders selected alongside Pogacar and Roglic have not been explicitly detailed yet.
As the countdown to the Road World Championships begins, the anticipation among cycling enthusiasts is palpable. With some of the world's best riders set to compete, it promises to be a thrilling event. Stay tuned for more updates on the Slovenian lineup and the Road World Championships.
