Romanian Post reports increased revenues but reduced profits during the first half of 2025
In the first half of 2025, Romania's state postal operator, Compania Nationala Posta Romana, reported a significant increase in revenue, with a 10.6% jump to RON 896 million (EUR 179 million). This growth was accompanied by a rise in expenses, climbing faster at 12.6% to RON 914 million.
Despite the increase in expenses, the net profit of the company fell from RON 16.82 million a year earlier to RON 13.24 million. However, the head of Romanian Post, Sorin Mihai Ion, announced that the company is forecasting a gross profit of RON 34.56 million for full-year 2025.
Moreover, Romanian Post's business reached RON 1.719 billion in 2024, marking a fivefold increase in net profit compared to the previous year, with a net profit of RON 70.72 million. For full-year 2025, the company forecasts total revenues of RON 1.919 billion, up 7.6% from preliminary 2024 levels.
It is important to note that the Ministry of Research, Innovation, and Digitalization owns 93.75% of Romanian Post, with Fondul Proprietatea holding 6.25% of the company.
In terms of workforce, Romanian Post reduced its workforce to 20,423 employees at the end of June, representing a loss of nearly 1,000 jobs over 12 months. However, no information about the company reducing its workforce was provided in this paragraph.
