Romanian Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan engages in official meetings during a work trip to Moldova with prominent figures.
The Republic of Moldova recently played host to Romanian Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, marking his first foreign visit since taking office on August 23, 2021.
During his stay, Bolojan was received with military honours at the headquarters of the government of the Republic of Moldova. The visit was a "sign of attachment to the Bessarabian Romanians," according to Prime Minister Bolojan himself.
In a notable encounter, Bolojan met with Dorin Recean, the Prime Minister of Moldova, in August 2021. The discussions between the two leaders focused on investments, facilitating the movement of people and goods, economic cooperation, and major connective infrastructure projects.
Recean appreciated the rising bilateral relations between Chisinau and Bucharest, stating that they have reached the "most brotherly level" since Nicusor Dan became president and Ilie Bolojan became head of the executive.
The prime ministers also met with citizens of the region at the House of Culture in the village of Bardar, where Valeriu Rată, the mayor of Bardar, asked about policies to prevent Moldovans from leaving the country.
In addition to their meetings, Bolojan and Recean visited the "National Treasure" Festival in the village of Horeshti, Ialoveni district.
At the Leuseni - Albita border crossing point, a coordinated control system is under implementation, with the system set to operate at the Galati - Giurgiulescu border point starting tomorrow. No new information was provided about the discussions held at these border crossings.
Bolojan also had a meeting with the speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, Igor Grosu, about accelerating the European path and the advantages of EU accession.
In a positive note, Bolojan stated that better development conditions in villages and towns, and the ability to travel, are important for Moldovans to return home.
Romania will continue to support Moldova in the process of accession to the European Union, further strengthening the already close ties between the two nations.
By the end of 2021, the necessary infrastructure will be prepared to establish coordinated control at the Sculeni border crossing point in the Republic of Moldova. However, no new information was provided about the coordinated control system at the border or the Sculeni border crossing point.
In conclusion, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan's visit to Moldova was marked by productive discussions, meaningful meetings, and a renewed commitment to strengthening the relationship between the two nations.
