Ross Unveils Carbonite Programming Code
Ross Video, a leading provider of production solutions for broadcast and live events, has announced the development of Carbonite Code, a software-based production switcher designed for NDI workflows. The announcement was made at the 2024 NAB Show.
The Carbonite Code was developed in partnership with NDI, a video-over-IP technology company. The software-based switcher is expected to launch this summer, as previously announced.
Carbonite Code supports 30 NDI inputs and six outputs, providing a robust foundation for live production workflows. It also includes three multiviewers, each displaying up to 16 sources, offering operators a clear and comprehensive view of their production.
The switcher includes three M/Es, four chromakeys, and a 48-channel audio mixer, providing a versatile set of tools for live production. However, during a recent interview with SCN Newsletter, no new information was provided about the specific features included in Carbonite Code.
Nigel Spratling, VP of production switchers and servers at Ross, discussed Carbonite Code with SCN at the Ross keynote address on April 13. The interview provided more details about the upcoming switcher, but no new information was shared about its compatibility with Ross TouchDrive control panels or the number of sources each multiviewer can display.
It should be noted that NDI launched NDI 6, but no new information about its integration with Carbonite Code was provided in the interview. Similarly, no information was provided about the number of NDI inputs or outputs supported by Carbonite Code.
Despite these missing details, the launch of Carbonite Code is an exciting development for the live production industry, offering a software-based solution that is compatible with NDI workflows. More information about the switcher is expected to be released as we approach its summer launch.
